1 Mill Road Black Pine Pinot Noir 2022

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is the inaugural vintage of Black Pine single vineyard from 1 Mill Road. It joins their Home Block and Block Two pinot noirs. Loganberry, blueberry, forest floor, a touch of licorice and darker fruits sit on the nose. In the glass, graphite, blueberry, juicy acidity and a savoury flavour intensity combined with very restrained alcohol should foretell a bright future. It does not show much complexity and retains some tannic grip, but the finish is long and rich. Promising, but needs cellar time. The Black Pine Vineyard is a 4-acre vineyard on the Naramata Bench. The Pinot Noir portion of the vineyard is planted to clones 667, 777, 115, and Pommard. 19% of the picked grapes were left as whole bunch clusters. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks for 14 days, then basket pressed into a combination of 1, 2, and 3 year old French oak barriques for nine months until blending. Alcohol 12.8%.Tasted: 10 October 2023Tasted by: Prices:
