Quails' Gate Queue 2021

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaQueue is part of a new series of small batch wines bottled under the Distinction Collection that fill in some portfolio gaps using a combination of varieties, clones, rootstocks, vineyard blocks, and winemaking techniques that offer something different for club members. They come, and they go, and no two are alike, similar to the pattern on a quail’s egg and the Queue label. The latest blend of 46/30/24 merlot/cabernet/syrah comes off the upper Boucherie bench vineyard, just above the winery, that boasts a unique southern exposure and a series of vineyard blocks on volcanic soils spiked with mineral deposits. This second edition is a restrained red blend with dusty, earthy, spicy, savoury, peppery fruit streaked with dried tomatoes. The tannins are fine-grained, if a little on the dry side. It's not showing a lot of charm at the moment, so I suggest you serve it with pork belly to complement the style.Tasted: 11 September 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
