Lake Sonoma Chardonnay 2020

Russian River, Sonoma County, California, United StatesAs slow as the transformation of California chardonnay has been to a more modern style, every once in a while, a wine will come out of nowhere to suggest things are changing. This Russian River is an excellent example, with its green apple, flinty nose and vibrant palate. It has tropical peach and tangerine but not without some acid to keep it chill and bright through the finish. You can serve this perfect five o’clock wine with a warmed Brie. Post ferment, it spends three months in stainless on lees before ageing for 22 months in 20/50/30 percent mix of new French oak, neutral oak, and stainless tanks. Think buttered clams, Dungeness crab, or pasta seafood.Tasted: 22 September 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
