Jean-Claude Ramonet Bourgogne Blanc 2018

Burgundy, FrancePierre Ramonet arrived in Burgundy in the late 1920s with nothing but a knapsack, and started to earn money by buying and vinifying grapes. The land value was very low, so hardworking Pierre was able to accumulate vineyard plots surrounding the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, with his first purchase within the great Ruchottes vineyard in 1934. Pierre eventually handed over the reins to his son André, who passed in 2011, and subsequently to his grandchildren, Noël and Jean-Claude, who had tended the family vineyards since 1984. The Domaine produces 24 appellation wines from 40 acres. This chardy comes from 20ish year old estate vineyards across the appellation, was native fermented in stainless before resting 1 year in French oak (10-15% new) on gross lees. Such complexity for a Bg Bl, with layers of pencil shavings, lemon, green apple across a gently expansive (2018) palate. There's still a brace of taut acidity, bringing this to a snappy and lingering saline finish. Classic Ramonet cut and finesse.Tasted: 04 September 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
