Blasted Church Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe mix is 94/6 cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot, the two most difficult grapes to ripen in BC, yet somehow this wine got it done. The cab comes from the Jose Vineyard (clones 191 and 169) on the western edge of Osoyoos, Inkameep Vineyard (clone 169) on the Oliver East Bench, and the home estate vineyard on the Skaha Bench. The petit verdot was sourced from the Lloyd Vineyard on the west side of Osoyoos. It was all kept separate through fermentation and aging. It spent 12 months in French oak, with 30 percent new and the rest a mix of second, third, fourth and neutral barrels. After a year, it’s all racked, blended, and returned to barrels for an extra 180 days. The nose is floral with plenty of cassis, plum, and spicy blueberry. The tannins are a touch sticky, but not an issue. The finish is persistent, with notes of Christmas cake and sagebrush.Tasted: 27 September 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
