Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe flagship Tantalus Chardonnay is all estate with a good portion of 35 year old vines plus some 17 year old replacements planted in 2006. It is all native fermented in a mix of new and old barriques and puncheons, with partial MLF to preserve its vitality. It spends six months in wood to build a bit of texture and complexity. The reductive leesy notes set the stage for tightly wound pears, green apple, and hazelnuts. Just a baby, but I don’t mind following it through the next five years. Certainly among the leaders in the province.Tasted: 05 May 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis, their flagship chardonnay, is entirely estate, based on their 1985 plantings, complemented by their 2006 plantings. The fruit was whole bunch pressed native fermented in a mix of new (30%) and old barriques and puncheons, with partial MLF, and 10 months on lees prior to bottling. Polished, and poised, with a structured core led by ripe green apple and lemon, based on toasted wood spices, cracked nutmeg, and fine lees. Very much in youth still, this is drinking very well though has a couple years in cellar to reach zenith. In top tier for BC chardy.Tasted: 07 August 2023Tasted by: Prices:
