Martin's Lane Zenith Single Block Collection Pinot Noir 2020

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaZenith is self-described by winemaker Shane Munn as “a single, isolated parcel from our most complex site.” The high elevation site produces highly perfumed pinot noir with pitch-perfect textures and tannins. I love the wild British Columbian tones that mark the palate, with floral, desert scrub underbrush. The clone is 667, spontaneously fermented using 50 percent whole clusters, and spends 32 days macerating, and 17 more months in tight grained Austrian and French Oak. The attack has some reduction that needs airing, but it eventually peels off, leaving those perfumed dark florals. The texture attracts, and at 12.6 percent alcohol, it is easy to immerse yourself in the many complex layers it can reveal. Not near ready to drink, but if you must, may I suggest the Peking Duck at Mott 32 in Vancouver. The fruit is grown organically and was certified as of the 2020 vintage.Tasted: 13 August 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
