Leyda Sauvignon Blanc Lot 4 2021

Valle de Leyda, Valle de San Antonio, Region de Aconcagua, ChileLot 4 is special expression of Leyda sauvignon blanc. It is made with Clone 317, originally from Sancerre, but little planted in Chile. 317 has tiny clusters that pitch mineral, white pepper notes with a dash of spicy ginger. It has an impressive mouthfeel beginning with grapefruit, tangerine, and dried herbs with polished creamy textures that fade into its inherent crunchy acidity and a long, intense finish. The fermentation is done in concrete egg shaped vats, untoasted foudres, and two year old, 400 litre French oak barrels to preserve the fruit. The final blend is 52% concrete eggs, 38% foudres, and 10% from 400 litre barrels. Interestingly the soil is a mixture of granite and silt that adds a chalky texture to the wine. The match is your favourite ceviche dish.Tasted: 22 August 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
