Valdeorras, Galicia, SpainXurxo Alba's family has been farming and making Albariño in Rïas Baixas for generations. The family is dedicated to making fresh white wines, which they do with this godello from a Valdeorras vineyard planted to old vines on slate soils. It is native fermented and aged in a 33/67 mix of stainless steel and French oak for eight months. The 2019 is about mineral saline styling, with florals, pear, and a subtle tropical undercurrent for balance. It is hard not to drink this bottle before the guests arrive.
