Callejuela Blanco de Hornillos 2021

Sherry Jerez - Manzanilla, SpainBrothers Pepe y Paco produce some incredibly dynamic Palominos from el Marco de Jerez, some fortified and some not, and some with flor and some without. Their father, Francisco Blanco Martínez, ‘el Blanquito,’ founded the business in 1980. Initially, he worked as an almacenista de mosto, farming his vineyards and selling the base wine to bottling houses. His sons came on board in the late 1990s and consolidated the operation in a cellar atop the slope of Pago el Hornillo on the estuary side of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Today they own 28 hectares of vines across four pagos. This cuvée is named for Pago de Hornillo, where their bodega stands, just away from the Atlantic, on the estuary side of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. This uses fruit from their four pagos, fermented and aged in stainless. Bright and fresh, with meadow hay, lemon thistle, and subtle chamomile streaking along a slender palate, seasoned with smoked white tea leaves / crushed chalky stones, and finishing with a saline wash. A very pure example of the grape without flor influence.Tasted: 01 August 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
