Solvero Chardonnay 2021
Garnet Valley, Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSolvero Chardonnay blends Clone 75 and 96, pitching elegant pear and citrus with underlying lees and vanilla. The palate is creamy and soft, mixing pear butter with fresh apricots and lemon. The oak is youthful and a touch firm but will dissipate with time, not that it will bother fans of vanilla and oak, and there are many. The clones were picked in early October, co-fermented in 2-year-old French oak barrels, with daily bâtonnage throughout the fermentation and once per month during its 12 months in the barrel: only 50 cases were made, but it is an excellent start.
