Savage Wines Never Been Asked to Dance 2021

Paarl, Coastal Region, South AfricaFrom an organically farmed Paarl vineyard planted in 1956 in decomposed granitic sands, this was left for dead when Duncan restored and rescued it. They have been interplanting Picpoul, Grenache Blanc, and Petit Manseng for pops of freshness throughout, making the 2021 approximately 87% chenin. This was whole bunch pressed, with quite brown juice before a native ferment and full MLF, with 10 months ageing in old 600L Stockingers. Licked alluringly with flinty reduction, this streams wild pear, lemon thistle, quince, meadow herbs, along a streamlined, linear palate, threaded with a gentle texture and imbued with salinity. So much depth and lightness of being here.Tasted: 23 July 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
