Observatory Gruner Veltliner 2022

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis wine has been around for a bit but doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. It is made under license at Howling Bluff by winemaker Blair Gillingham. The nose is a perfect imitation of the real thing sans a robust white pepper note, but the fruit is brilliant and herbal, with fresh green apples and dried herbs pulling you into the glass. The palate is lively and ripe with sweet, almost candied fruit that never crosses the line, thanks to some bitter guava notes in the back end. It is impressive and another sign of plenty of diversity in the Okanagan. You have to look for it.Tasted: 27 July 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
