Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom their home estate McLean Creek Vineyard, this gewürztraminer is closing in on 30 years of age. Not your average gew when it comes to winemaking, the grapes are picked at two different times, and the late pick gets an extra 24 hours of skin contact. Both lots are fermented in stainless steel or older French barrels for more than thirty days, and left on lees for 16 more weeks. Aromatically bright with notes of honeysuckle, ginger, litchi, and ripe pear with a slippery soft finish. It smells sweet but finishes barely off dry. Try this with spicy bites for best effect.Tasted: 25 July 2023Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom their home McLean Creek Vineyard, this Gew was planted in 1994 on sandy loams and gravels, with cuttings from Germany. From a couple of picks, the latter with 24 hours skin contact, these two lots were native fermented cool in stainless and older French barrels over 1 month. The wine was left on lees for 4 more months, with no MLF. Gingersnap, apricot, cold cream glide along the soft, slick palate, with a hearty bump of RS making this super friendly. Drink now, with a chill.Tasted: 17 July 2023Tasted by: Prices:
