Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis merlot, a clone sourced from Italy and planted in 1968 by Joe Busnardo, is savoury and distinctive, showing sappy dark cherries, iodine, green peppercorns, and singed, leafy herbs, framed by generous French oak. It's a fun discovery well outside of the typical idiom of Okanagan merlot, and all the better for it.
