Tuscany, ItalyThis opens with a 2018 hit of warmth and ripeness, including a touch of maroon at the rim. The palate is full-flavoured with dark plums, mushrooms, baked cherries, and balsamico. A surprising amount of tannins suggests this wine could be cellared for three to five years. You can drink it now with a sugo or roasted vegetables. The mix is 95/5 sangiovese/merlot from various Tuscan estates. It spent ten months in oak casks and 225L barrels (10% new) and was given another year in bottle before release.Tasted: 30 June 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Tuscany, ItalySangiovese is tipped with 5% merlot in this Riserva, with fruit coming off various estate plots, each fermented separately in small stainless tanks. Half went through MLF in stainless, with the remainder in wood, before aging for ten months in oak casks and 225L barrels (10% new). The wine rested in a bottle one year before release. There's a slight browning to the ripe fruit, with some baked plum, leather, and hoisin on the fuller palate, wrapped with sticky, ample tannins. The finish wraps up quickly with a dusting of nutmeg and clove. Drink now, ideally with roasted root veg/lamb.Tasted: 14 July 2023Tasted by: Prices:
