Gabbiano Cavaliere d'Oro Riserva Chianti Classico 2018
Tuscany, ItalySangiovese is tipped with 5% merlot in this Riserva, with fruit coming off various estate plots, each fermented separately in small stainless tanks. Half went through MLF in stainless, with the remainder in wood, before aging for ten months in oak casks and 225L barrels (10% new). The wine rested in a bottle one year before release. There's a slight browning to the ripe fruit, with some baked plum, leather, and hoisin on the fuller palate, wrapped with sticky, ample tannins.
