Friuli-Venezia Giulia, ItalyCastelvecchio is a part of the Karst (Carso) area in the province of Gorizia. The dry, rocky soils are layered with red sand, iron, and limestone, and the vineyards are cooled by breezes from the Istrian Peninsula. This malvasia was fermented and aged on lees in concrete and fragrantly perfumed, with ripe melon, lush peach and herbal apricot, with a bracing lemon acidity to tighten and brighten.
