Tosalet Carignan Vinyes Velles 2017
Priorato, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainThis intense red wine with a purple opaque colour is filled with mulberries, blackberries, raspberries, and mint. It has a complex and mouthfilling taste with a spicy, mineral, wet stone undercarriage. This wine is best aged in the bottle for at least ten years before opening. Tosalet's old vine carignan comes from Priorat, a unique terroir. The 80+ year old vines are planted from 300 to 600 meters above sea level, yielding a tiny 7 hl/ha in the best years. After a cold maceration, it is fermented at 26-28ºC for three weeks before ageing for 18 months in new 500L French oak barrels.
