Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 12.3 percent alcohol is more than enough to carry this screamingly electric chardonnay grown in vineyards just North of the Naramata township. It is barrel fermented and aged for 16 months in 33% new French oak, although you would never guess that was the case at first taste. Long and linear with knife edge acidity from front to back, it rides a subtle mix of apricots, lemons, and orange blossoms, with a lightly reductive, creamy, complex finish.
