Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalSem Igual means 'no equal', and is a line of uncompromising wines from a family producing Vinho Verde since the 18th Century, and started to release these wines from their 10 hectares in 2012. From VV's inland Sousa subregion, this blends sustainably farmed touriga nacional, baga, and vinhao (sezão), the latter foot trodden separately and added into the blend of touriga and baga. This lighter red charms with morello cherry, fleshy plum, and rockrose, scented with chinotto, bedded on worked suede, woven with alluring reductive notes, and framed with light tannins. Quite charismatic and interesting, and certainly unlike any VV you've had before.
