Rigour & Whimsy Thus Spoke Veruca 2022
Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRigour & Whimsy are a tiny garagiste, family-owned winery based in Okanagan Falls, sourcing special vineyards across the Okanagan for their creative and adventuresome (and artfully labelled) portfolio, one that changes annually. This syrah comes off Osoyoos' organic Sekhon Family Vineyards, and unlike the previous Thus Spoke Veruca, there is no viognier to soften and perfume this year. This was whole cluster fermented, and chaptalized to bump up the acidity (all the way to 12.3%). Super peppery and floral, with lashes of violets, irises, fragrant plums, musky potpourri, and wild blackberries flooding the palate. Acidity is lofted, and tannins are soft and downy, carrying this to a blackcurrant twist finish.
