Nichol Vineyard The Village Syrah 2021
Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIn 2021 Nichol released The Village Syrah, with fruit from a neighbouring friend, and vineyard planted in 2010 on alluvial till and clay. This was basket pressed, and spent 18 months in neutral oak prior to bottling without fining or filtration. Super ferrous on first whiff, with iron scenting black raspberry, dark cherry, and dark earth. Tannins are softly grippy and fine, and acidity is moderate, taking this to a perfumed violet and peppercorn finish.
