Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWinemaker Taylor Whelan says, “sauvignon blanc has immense untapped potential in North Okanagan because of our climate and soils.” I have thought this for years, seeing one off wines from nowhere hitting it out of the park, while the natives drink every commercial offering made in New Zealand. This grassy, lemongrass and guava affair is streaked with flint and mouth-watering freshness. Fermented in concrete and French oak barrels, this wine will turn heads. Low in alcohol but rich in flavour, this is a delight to drink. Oysters, anyone?Tasted: 12 June 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOff their Naramata Ranch vineyard, this was native fermented in concrete egg and French barrels. Piercingly sauvignon blanc, this drives through the palate with lemon thistle, lemon verbena, gooseberry, grapefruit and lime pith, and a shake of mineral salts which linger on the citrus finish. Does not lack for acid, or energy, and thankfully has a thin sheen of lees to buffer. This structured and taut Sauvy will stand in smartly for your assertive Kiwi sauvignons.Tasted: 22 June 2023Tasted by: Prices:
