Bodegas Zárate Albariño El Palomar 2021

Val do Salnés, Rías Baixas, Galicia, SpainFounded in 1707, the family owned Zárate estate is located in Rias Baixas' Vale do Salinas subregion. Their sloping, weathered granite vineyards are translated via Albariño, a grape intrinsically associated with the estate. Seventh-generation Eulogio Pomares runs this historic bodega today, farming almost fully biodynamically. This special cuvée is from 150 year old vines, amongst the oldest documented in Rías Baixas. It was fermented in a 2200L French foudre where it rests on lees until bottling. The deeper yellow hue hints at the time in wood, as does the broadness on the palate, supporting white peach, pear, lemon curd, and herbal thistle, trailing off with ample buzzy granitic grip.Tasted: 01 June 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
