Paraje Altamira, Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaSandy, loamy soils over stones are the story of Altimira. Add in older malbec vines, and you have a recipe for quality. Post ferment this spends 18 months in new French oak barrels. The palate is silky smooth with spicy black cherry, blackberry, and black plum with a line of umami, savoury desert running through it. Impressive styling and finesse, and while it’s warm, it remains in balance. You can drink it now with a T-Bone steak or you can age it in the cellar for six to eight years.Tasted: 09 March 2023Tasted by: Prices:
Paraje Altamira, Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaThis is a selection of older malbec vines from Uco Valley's Altamira and its sandy, loamy soils over stones. After three weeks of maceration and fermentation in stainless, this aged in new French barrels for 18 months. Perfumed dark and sultry spices open this robust red, with structured, finely grippy tannins framing dense black cherry, cassis, and dried savoury herbs through a lingering palate. The finish keeps on going with kisses of medicinal cherry and crushed stones. Quite finessed and elegant throughout, this is drinking beautifully now and is one for the cellar.Tasted: 02 May 2023Tasted by: Prices:
