Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Further Afield Series allows Tantalus to source grapes and make wines from non-estate fruit, like this organic cabernet franc rosé of Osoyoos' Sekhorn Family Vineyards, and its sandy soils. Some of the fruit was whole bunch pressed and fermented in stainless, while the pressings were fermented wild in older pinot noir barrels. Post ferment and blend, this aged on fine lees for 3 months. Pouring a blush peach hue, this is packed with mirabelle plum, raspberry, and tart red currant, and scented with subtle florals and white pepper. Pretty, smart, and charming, enjoy this new pink this summer.Tasted: 18 June 2023Tasted by: Prices:
Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Further Afield Series gives the winery some flexibility to work outside the confines of its Kelowna Vineyard with what they describe as British Columbia’s most revered varieties. The series began with a rich, full-flavoured 2021 Syrah, and next up is this 2022 Cabernet Franc Rosé. The colour is Provençal pink, the attack juicy with fruit slightly sweeter than the home vineyard, pitching fresh plum and dried wild herbs under strawberries, red apple, and cranberry before a crisp, dry finish. Interestingly the fruit was gently whole bunch pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks with inoculated yeast, while the hard pressings of the juice were fermented wild in older pinot noir barrels. The blend was aged on fine lees for three months before going to bottle.Tasted: 05 May 2023Tasted by: Prices:
