Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAn unusual combination of being slightly skinny yet flat underscores the story of this chardonnay that boasts ripe apple and pear, and a primarily soft demeanour that fades into toasted oak notes. This one is for you if you like your chardonnay on the rounder side. It is well made and easy to drink right now. I suggest you have it with Dungeness crab or a lobster tail and play the rich/rich match game. Lost Horn Vineyard in Okanagan Falls is home to the clone 76 chardonnay vines planted in 1990. The wine was barrel fermented and native fermented in 40% new French and European barrels for ten months.Tasted: 17 March 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom Okanagan Falls' Lost Horn Vineyard, this clone 76 chardy was planted in 1990 in clay loam soils. This is their first time barrel fermenting their chardonnay, with ample oxygen prior to native ferment. It remained in a mix of French and European barrels (40% new) for ten months. There's a shimmer of the desired reduction, though it's lost amidst the super ripe fruit, and amply toasted barrel action overruling this wine at present. Lemon curd, baked pear, nutmeg peaks out from under the wood cloak, before the warm finish is gobbled up with toasted spices. A worthwhile experiment, needing focus and tweaking next time out.Tasted: 18 May 2023Tasted by: Prices:
