Gabriëlskloof Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Walker Bay, Overberg, South AfricaGabriëlskloof is located in Bot River, cooled by nearby Walker Bay. The farm's 178 hectares (68 hectares under vine) was purchased in 2001 by Bernhard Heyns. Peter-Allan Finlayson, one of ZA's leading next gen winemakers (Crystallum) married Bernhard's daughter Nicolene, and now contributes to the winemaking here. This is part of their 'entry' Gabriëlskloof Range, small lot wines that always over-deliver on quality and value. Grapes come off 7 low-yielding vineyards planted on rocky sandstone and shale. This was native fermented and aged in stainless on lees for 7 months. Lemon thistle, hedge, passionfruit, verbena is lit with a buzzy white grapefruit acidity, licked with a slip of lees, and finishing with ample white pepper spicing. Such lovely flow and energy in this very smart sauvvy.Tasted: 29 May 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
