Mendoza, ArgentinaThe malbec is fermented and aged for 12 months in oak (60% new). The colour is opaque purple, with tarry, floral notes, intense blackcurrant on the palate, supported by youthful tannins through the finish. There is some freshness in the back end to balance it all but this red will need three to five years more bottle time to settle in. Barbecued ribs with a sweet sauce might be able to handle it at this point. The fruit is sourced from estate vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley, with vines that span 20 to 90 years of age, planted at 100-1200 meters above sea level.Tasted: 09 March 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Mendoza, ArgentinaFrom estate vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley, this big, savoury malbec is sourced from vines 20-90 years, and 1100-1200m. This was fermented and macerated for 3 weeks before aging for 1 year (40% in older wood). Potent and dense violets, black currants, tar attack the full palate, with a swell of ripely sweet vanilla and candied florals sticking to the finish. Tannins are ample, tuggy, and ripe, and thankfully acidity is lofty as there is a lot to manoeuvre through here. This youthful wine will benefit from some air time and / or time in bottle before partnering with your sweet sauced ribs.Tasted: 11 April 2023Tasted by: Prices:
