Montes Wings Carmenere 2020
Valle del Colchagua, Valle del Rapel, Region del Valle Central, ChileMontes Wings is the latest carmenère project from the Montes family. A blend of 85% carmenère and 15% cabernet franc, the fruit comes off the home Apalta vineyard in the Colchagua Valley but from the top of the hill instead of the lower vineyards as has been the case. The result is a somewhat more approachable wine mixed with red and black fruit than Purple Angel. It has some carmenère intensity, showing olives and fennel notes, but it's mixed with blackberry blueberry and sweet French oak dusted in chocolate.
