Little Engine Silver Chardonnay 2020
Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCalifornia meets Naramata with this Silver Little Engine Chardonnay. It is whole cluster pressed, settled and fermented in a mix of stainless and used French barrels. The final blend was 71% barrel fermented (no new oak) and matured on lees for eight months with bâtonnage. Nice improvement here, showing less winemaking and more terroir, although this is New World. Ripe pear, tangerine, butter has a touch of lime rind and bright acid to keep it balanced, leaving the finish clean and refreshing. Mineral notes also come to the wine's rescue, clearing away the sweet fruit.
