Church & State Wines Merlot 2019
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMerlot the way it should be, dry with good fruit, earthy undertones, and softish tannins. The C&S version is fermented and macerated in stainless tanks for 20 days before ageing in French oak for 12 months. Better yet, only 15 percent new oak is in the mix, leaving the fruit to express its southern Okanagan terroir. I love the black fruit, the expresso, and the dried herbs, all of which add complexity to a well-made, straightforward wine.
