Champagne Marie Copinet Nos pas Dans... la Terre Complantée NV

Montagne de Reims, Champagne, FranceMarie-Laure Copinet and her winemaker husband Alexandre Kowal have taken over her family's estate, founded by her father Jacques in 1975. Before then, the Copinets were selling their fruit to Moët, but Jacques' work at Taittinger led him to decide to create their own grower champagne estate. They are based in the tiny Champagne village of Montgenost (population 140) in the Côtes des Sézanne, and they own 9 hectares of vineyards in Côtes des Sézanne, Côtes des Bar, and Vallée de la Marne, producing only 5,500 cases annually, and began organic conversion in 2018. Complantée is a field blend of pinot noir and pinot meunier from the plot of La Charbonnière, in the village of Brouillet, situated in the little-known Vallée de l'Ardre, east of Reims. The soils are dark and crumbly, as seen on the label. It was native fermented and vinified in large oak (60%) and stainless, and is from the 2019 vintage. It remained sur lattes until July 2023, when it was disgorged with 0 dosage. Salty, tight, and nervy, this highly perfumed, structural wine is built on cherry, perfumed raspberry, purple florals, meringue, and light toast, finishing with lingering salinity. Great energy here.Tasted: 30 November 2024Tasted by: Prices:
