It's led by stewed dark plums, with leather, sundried tomato, dried florals, and anise. It's very much in the Mediterranean idiom; a complex wine, to be sure, if a bit rustic and soft, though with polished, fine-grained tannins. There’s a weight and richness on the palate reflecting the warmth of the origin, but it doesn’t feel heavy. The 14.5% is well integrated. The finish is prolonged with saline minerality and a touch of iodine.
