Santadi, Cagliari, Sardinia, ItalyThis carignano based red blend (60% carignano/carignan, 10% cabernet sauvignon, 10% cabernet franc, 10% merlot, 10% syrah) from Sardinia shows a highly complex nose of brambleberries and persimmon skin layered with savoury Mediterranean rosemary and tarragon. There’s a weight and richness on the palate reflecting the warmth of the origin, but it doesn’t feel heavy. The 14.5% is well integrated. The finish is prolonged with saline minerality and a touch of iodine.
