Leyda Garuma Coastal Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2021
Valle de Leyda, Valle de San Antonio, Region de Aconcagua, ChileTwo clones, 1 Davis and 107, shape this sauvignon blanc they call Garuma after a small seagull seen along the Chilean coastline running across the sandy beaches. The Davis clone is about structure and creaminess, while Clone 107 is about the herbaceous, citrus, and limey saline notes that run along the spine. Garuma hails from the El Maitén estate planted in 2008, 12 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean. Pale yellow with green highlights. Perfect for west coast shellfish and ready to drink.Tasted: 22 August 2023Tasted by: Prices:
Leyda Garuma Coastal Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2021
Valle de Leyda, Valle de San Antonio, Region de Aconcagua, ChileThis coastal sauvignon blanc comes off two of estate vineyards: El Maitén, located 12km from the Pacific Ocean; and El Granito, situated just 4km from the sea, and one of Chile’s most extreme vineyards. The various plots, clones, and soils (granite and clay) provide layers of flavour and freshness. Destemmed fruit was partially macerated with skins in the press prior to joining the other freshly pressed juice. It was fermented and rested on lees in stainless. Brisk and bright, with ample asparagus, guava, passionfruit, and tangerine on a buoyant, saline, and stony palate, lashed with marine salinity. Mouthwatering, with Chile's abundant fruit, this is a great take on the grape.Tasted: 06 March 2023Tasted by: Prices:
