Swartland, Coastal Region, South AfricaThis iconic Mediterranean-meets-Swartland white blend is shining bright in 2021, based on 62% old vine Chenin Blanc, aided with 10% Clairette Blanche, 9% Viognier, 7% Grenache Blanc, 6% Semillon Gris, 6% Verdelho from the region's schist, granite, and iron soils. Each vineyard was hand harvested and whole bunch pressed, native fermented up to 2 months with natural MLF (or not), and left on lees in older 500L barrel for and 1 new 2000L foudre for 11 months. Very complete at this young age, with an alluring reductive stripe driving crisp lemon, green apple, Bosc pear, herbal melon, and meadow grass along a lees-decked palate imbued with potent mineral salts through the lingering finish.
