Joseph Drouhin Meursault 2020
Meursault, Côte de Beaune, Côte d'Or, Burgundy, FranceAs soon as you nose this wine, you know it is unique and very Meursault, reflecting its weight and roundness on the palate. A pear and apple freshness balances the hazelnut butter and vanilla bean that permeate the chalky mineral finish. It is more mysterious than my words, and delights to savour as the long finish goes on and on. Impeccably balanced and ready to drink now through 2028. If you love white Bourgogne, this should be on your radar. The celebrated terroir of the Côte des Blancs, a few kilometres south of Beaune, is home to Meursault, one of the oldest villages in Bourgogne. The camp of Mont Milan, above the present village, was erected and settled in Neolithic times (2,500 BC) before being occupied by the Gauls (500 BC) and then the Romans. It was finally abandoned for the present location of the village built during the Gallo-Roman period, at which time the name Muris Saltus (Meursault) was given to it.Tasted: 26 February 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $108.99 | 750ml | BCL Stores |
