Hillside Mosaic 2016

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaHillside takes its best red wine seriously, as evidenced by the expensive, extended cellaring it gets at the winery. 2016 is my favourite vintage, and I have been waiting for this Mosiac to be released. It doesn’t disappoint as it begins its long journey in the bottle that collectors should note. An early warm spring followed by a summer of moderate heat allowed optimal hang time to ripen the fruit, delivering intense black cherry with brilliantly pure flavours. The blend is 42% merlot, 24% cabernet sauvignon, 16% malbec, 15% cabernet franc, and 3% petit verdot, all aged 16 months in French Oak (27% new). Over the years, the Hillside flagship wine has evolved as it transitioned to a more graceful Naramata red full of grace and power. A delicious mid-valley red you can effortlessly age 7 to 10 years.Tasted: 18 February 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
