Fort Berens Cabernet Franc Reserve 2019
British Columbia, CanadaLillooet cabernet franc grown on the home Dry Creek Vineyard opens with bright floral violet mixed with brooding dark plums and chocolate. The tannins are a touch sticky but mostly well managed, and will dissipate quickly over the next 24-36 months when this red will reach its peak. It is a testament to the work of the team at Fort Berens establishing a new wine region and sorting out what will and will not grow. Indeed, at eleven years of age, it looks as if the cabernet franc has a future at 50.6 degrees north. The grapes were row selected and picked late in the season for optimal ripeness, and post ferment, extended skin maceration was employed to add body and structure to the wine. Drink or hold, there is no rush.Tasted: 01 February 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $39.99 | 750ml | winery online/direct, select private retailers, grocery |
