Torres Salmos 2018

Priorato, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainHow delicious is this wine? Salmos is a tribute to the Carthusian Monastery of Scala Dei monks, who arrived in Priorat in 1194 and introduced winegrowing there. It is also a testament to the Torres family, who make several high-quality wines and don’t get enough respect for them. The grapes cariñena and garnacha come from La Giberga vineyard in Porrera, a terraced site on the region’s famed llicorella slate soils. It was fermented in stainless before ageing for 14 months in 20 percent new French oak barrels. The palate is a seamless mix of wild black fruits and stony mineral notes wrapped in a floral finish. The tannins are mostly expired, leaving a long lingering finish. Drink or hold; this a real wine. Super value.Tasted: 28 January 2023Tasted by: Prices:
