Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis Anarchist Mountain chardonnay was planted in 1985 with an unknown clone by the Dekleva family on the Golden Mile Bench. The original vineyard is a significant part of the Checkmate site. This fruit comes from the family estate in Osoyoos. It is native fermented in stainless steel tanks before moving to French oak (5% new) for 11 months. The lees are in contact with the wine the entire time, but there is no stirring. It is less reductive than the other Meyer wines and more approachable at this stage. Expect a creamier mid-palate mix of green and yellow fruits with a touch of dry ginger ale. Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is the second single vineyard Anarchist Mountain Chardonnay from one of BC's chardy specialists. This comes from their family's estate, Osoyoos vineyard, planted in 1985 to an unknown clone (planted by Anthony Dekleva, hence the name on the label). This was native fermented long and cool in stainless, then transferred to French oak (25% new) for 11 months' rest on lees, without bâtonnage. You can feel the southern Okanagan in this ripe, creamy chardy, with generous yellow fruit, butter, ale, and toast, which lingers on the shorter finish. Cali meets Okanagan; this young chardy is best dished with equally rich foods.Tasted: 15 January 2023Tasted by: Prices:
