Somontano, Aragon, SpainFounded in 1991, Enate de Viñedos y Crianzas del Alto Aragón began with 25 hectares under vines, which grew to today's 500 hectares. The sustainably farmed vines rest around 600m in the heart of Somontano, in north east Spain, protected by the Pyrenees. Equal parts cabernet sauvignon and merlot, this aged 6 months in American oak prior to bottling. Ripe and dense, this full bodied red has soaked up the Spanish sun, and together with the American barrels has turned up a potent, full bodied red with ripe raspberry, jammy cherry, cracked nutmeg framed with tight, sticky tannins through a shorter finish. Try with a lamb / root veg ragout.Tasted: 08 April 2023Tasted by: Prices:
Somontano, Aragon, SpainA 50/50 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot, this shows a muted nose of stewed dark fruits with woodsy herbs and cedar. It's not as rich and full as you'd expect, with moderate concentration leading to a firmly structured palate with sinewy tannins and soft acidity. It's quite ripe and warming at 15%, giving this a heavy quality that's calling for a light chill.Tasted: 28 January 2023Tasted by: Prices:
Somontano, Aragon, SpainThis 50/50 cabernet sauvignon/merlot blend from Spain’s Somontano exhibits ultra ripe plums and dark cherries mixed with subtle baking spices. Though the rather high 15% alcohol is hard to not notice, the plushness and forward nature of the wine makes it appealing to those who prefer full bodied, bigger, bolder reds with high fruit ripeness. It will go well with grilled meats or juicy steaks.Tasted: 25 March 2023Tasted by: Prices:
