Cambria Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard 2020

Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County, Central Coast, California, United StatesThe vineyard known as Julia's Vineyard was renamed at the age of 20 in 1988 after Julia Jackson, the daughter of Jesse Jackson and Barbara Banke. Julia is the co-owner of Unsworth and Blue Grouse Vineyards on Vancouver Island, also well known for their pinot noir, if a completely different style. The warmth and richness of this pinot noir are apparent in the glass, but it's not over the top. The mix of clonal material (50% Clone 4, 16% Clone 667, 15% Clone 23, 15% Clone 2A, and 4% Clone 115) brings a lot of complexity to the wine. The mix of red and dark fruit, dried cranberries, and black cherry pulls with plenty of savoury notes and brown spice in the finish. It's always charming and silky smooth, and I like to chill the bottle before serving this wine to add a final touch of liveliness to the glass.Tasted: 17 January 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
