Uppercase Pinot Gris 2021
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe pinot gris comes from Osoyoos and Summerland, the latter no doubt tempering the ripeness. The wine is quite round and supple, low acid but rich in texture. Even though most of the wine, 84 percent, was fermented in stainless steel, with the remainder in neutral French oak, it feels like more wood was involved. Ripe pears, golden delicious apples and guava highlight what is a most delicate if slightly disjointed gris. Nevertheless, it is a good start and should improve with a cool climate bent in the coming years. Upper Case Winery works out of District Wine Village north of Oliver, and the vineyards are located in the South Okanagan. The pinot gris comes off the warm Border Vineyard on Osoyoos West Bench, and is mixed with Summerland fruit.Tasted: 21 December 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $39.99 | 750ml | winery direct, select private wine shops |
