Uppercase Malbec 2020
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaExpect a dark opaque purple-black colour from this malbec made from two vineyards: one in the Similkameen, and one in Oliver. Both sites are rocky, gravel-strewn vineyards which adds a little extra minerality to the mix. As big and plush as this wine is, it remains refreshing, suggesting that the acid and wood are balanced here, allowing it to act as a malbec and not a cabernet or syrah, and that is a good thing. Post ferment, it spends 16 months in French oak barriques that are 30 percent new. Expect a soft, spicy, juicy, savoury style that is perhaps best suited to chicken or veal dishes. A solid start.Tasted: 21 December 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $34.99 | 750ml | winery direct, select private wine shops |
