Red Rooster Carbonic Merlot Malbec 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaI love how this wine is made, as a two level, simultaneous fermentation. Whole cluster malbec sits on the bottom of the tank fermenting berry by berry, or intracellular. The lightly crushed merlot grapes on top are inoculated with yeast protecting the malbec from any oxygen damage. After fermenting, the juice is aged in 13% new French oak barrels for ten months before filtering and bottling. The attack is floral with juicy, bloody notes upfront and a darker, wiry brambleberry with some wood vanillins. Easy sipping. This is a wine for now.
