Ecce Vinum Verdejo Crianza 2016

SpainBorn into a family of vintners, 3rd generation winemaker Moisès Casas started his La Mancha winery, Ecce Vinum Bodegas Moisès Casas, in 2009 after a decade of making wines for other wineries around Spain. His organic and natural farming techniques and low-intervention winemaking aim to allow his small-production wines (and vines up to 100 years old) to shine. This verdejo was fermented and aged six months on lees in new 225L French oak with weekly bâtonnage. Pouring a golden yellow hue, this hefty verdejo carries honeyed white peach, ripe quince, Marcona almonds, and candied mandarine peel across an expansive palate, feeling much weightier than its 13.5% (but equally as heavy as the massive glass bottle). A gentle sea shell acidity buoys this through the subtly saline and flinty finish—an impactful white.Tasted: 23 December 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
