Bodegas Moises Casas Ecce Vinum Tempranillo 2015
Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla, SpainThis is as intense as tempranillo gets from its complex floral nose to its spicy dark fruit. The attack is dry, and even at eight years old, there are still some sticky tannins to be dispersed. Coffee, cocoa, earthy balsamic underpins the intense black cherry. At this point, I think this would be on point with lamb chops, a beefy winter stew, or mature cheeses. Moisés Casas, who founded Ecce Vinum with Elena García, is driven by a simple idea. "We want to be the benchmark for modern wine associated with excellent quality and originality.” Their vineyards are in the Toledo town of Miguel Esteban and belonged to his family for five generations. The vines range from 60 to 100 years old and sit more than 700 meters above sea level, where they enjoy a tremendous thermal range between day and night. The wines are organically farmed and certified as IGP Vino de la Tierra de Castilla.Tasted: 21 December 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $33.50 | 750ml | select private retailers |
